SERVING THE BAY AREA

FOR OVER 40 YEARS.

East Valley Christian School (EVCS) has a rich history rooted in a vision for faith-based education and community service. The journey began in 1980 when Bishop John G. Nelson founded East Valley Christian Preschool, initially known as ‘Kiddie Kountry.’ This preschool was created to offer early childhood education that integrated Christian values and teachings, providing a nurturing environment for young children.

Building on the success of the preschool, Bishop Nelson established East Valley Christian School (EVCS) in 1988. Designed as a ministry of East Valley Pentecostal Church, EVCS aimed to support both church members and the broader community in raising children according to Biblical principles. The school’s educational philosophy was grounded in Scripture, particularly the commandments found in Deuteronomy 6:5-9, Proverbs 22:6, and II Timothy 2:15, which emphasize the importance of teaching and guiding children in the ways of the Lord.

EVCS quickly became known for its commitment to high educational standards and spiritual development. In 2012, this dedication was recognized when EVCS was honored as “Best of the Bay,” a testament to its excellence in education and community impact.

In 2018, the school celebrated its 30th anniversary, reflecting on three decades of growth and achievement. The milestone was a moment to acknowledge the contributions of staff, students, and families who have been part of the EVCS journey.

Continuing its legacy, EVCS marked its 40th anniversary in 2020. This celebration not only highlighted the school’s enduring commitment to faith-based education but also its ongoing role in shaping the future of its students and the community. The anniversary underscored EVCS’s evolution from a small preschool to a well-respected educational institution, dedicated to nurturing both the mind and spirit of its students.
